Born in Saitama Prefecture but currently living in Tokyo, photographer Takashi Kitajima first gained notoriety in 2013 for his “Extrabokeh” project on Flickr. Using large aperture lenses and a tilt-shift mount, the nighttime cityscapes depicted in his photos feature a flurry of bright bokeh (blur) balls. In 2015, he began a new project, “Glass Porthole,” in which he holds a magnifying glass to highlight or isolate a certain section of the frame. Throughout his work, he uses a unique approach to his depictions of city nightlife.
This show features highlights from the last three years of the artist’s work, and Takashi Kitajima will be in attendance for every day of the exhibition.
