When: 10/10/14 - 19/10/14: All Day
Where: Around Shimokitazawa Station, Kitazawa 2-23-9
So if you like curry (and let’s be honest, we all do), and you like Shimokitazawa (kind of hard to dislike Shimokita, even if it is starting to get fancy), this event is right up your alley. The restaurants, bars, and cafes of this bohemian neighborhood—at current count, 104 of them—will all be serving up their own version of the spicy dish, from Japanese and Indian style to Thai and fusion-style offerings. You can check out the website (In Japanese) to find a particular shop or style of curry or grab an English map at the station, but it’s just as easy to just have a walk around and just let the spirit—and your stomach—move you. Each location will have its own menu items, and prices may vary.
The Shimokitazawa Curry Festival is now in its third year, and it’ll be collaborating with Jameson Irish Whiskey, which means you’ll be able to try out the “official” cocktail of the event—Jameson Ginger and Lime—at many of the participating shops. So, bring an appetite and some walking shoes, and remember: don’t overdo it. You’ve got ten days.
