Every year, Setagaya Boro welcomes over 200,000 visitors to sample the enormous array of goods on offer at their bi-annual open-air market.

First held over 440 years ago, the “Boro-ichi” attracted customers as it had a variety of different stalls available – and not just farming goods. By the 1990s, there were over 2000 stalls in the market. Due to traffic restrictions, this number sits at around 700 today, but the market remains a firm favorite for Setagaya locals and visitors alike.
