The nearly 400 year old traditional series of festivals will kick off this week with the usual festivities. The Sanno festival typically marks the official onset of summer festivals, with a month of celebrations following suit. Get your fill of “yaki” foods, masks, singing and dancing, and lots of cheering going on for the next month in the Ginza area, stretching all the way to the Imperial palace.
Times and dates will vary depending on the weather and the temple schedule. Check the link for more details. Saturdays and Sundays will, naturally, have the most events, including float displays, parades, and dances. But keep your eyes peeled: each day offer something going on around the area.
