When: 16/04/16: All Day
There’s nothing like a trip to the record store – flipping through dozens of 12-inch record bins is not an experience that can be replicated on the iTunes Store. Unfortunately, the tactile pleasure of record shopping is dying and with each closing independent store a significant part of culture is lost. Luckily, Record Store Day is here to remind us to get out there and support purveyors of good taste.
Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding independently owned record stores in the US and internationally. In Japan, the ambassador for Record Store Day 2016 is Keiichi Sokabe of Sunny Day Service. The long list of music releases by Japanese artists, most exclusively on vinyl, can be viewed here. See the list of participating stores here.
