Nihonbashi-Kyobashi Festival: 44th Oedo Kakki Parade

When: 23/10/16: 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Where: Around Nihombashi Station, Nihonbashi 2-1

The main feature of the annual Nihonbashi-Kyobashi Festival is an impressive marching parade featuring over 2,000 participants from local public services and dancers from various regions across Japan. The parade is split into two parts, beginning at 11.20am and spreading the festivities along the route, culminating in a dance performance.  This year’s event also features a special treat for sports fans with a charity “Rugby Festival” held in Kyobashi 3-chome. Historically Nihonbashi was the center that connected five routes from across Japan to what is now modern central Tokyo. Today it remains a hub of national culture and trade, and this event hopes to promote “Edo’s smart and stylish lifestyle to the world.”
