When: 01/09/16 - 26/09/16: 10:00 am - 9:00 pm
Where: Parco Museum, 1-28-2 Minami-Ikebukuro
The first exhibition of the new Parco Museum in Ikebukuro is a retrospective of the 20-year career of manga artist and writer Moyoco Anno. Best-known for titles such as “Sugar Sugar Rune,” “Happy Mania,” and “Sakuran,” many of her works have been adapted into anime, TV shows and movies, and Anno’s drawings have undoubtedly helped perpetuate the impossibly big-eyed, big-haired style that is now synonymous with manga comics.
Her fashionably attractive characters have influenced the daydreams and romantic aspirations of several generations of Japanese women, but it is her knack for storytelling, dealing with real-life women’s issues of love, life and work that has continued to captivate her fans. The exhibition will include original drawings, artworks and manuscripts to coincide with the release of a new book.
