Renowned internationally since the mid-1990s, Mariko Mori has moved from video projects to large-scale solo works, each time presenting her global audience with challenging new concepts and visions. Mori is returning to SCAI The Bathhouse for an individual exhibition that is centered on a new piece in her “Cycloid” series. Made from aluminum and covered with a radiant pearlescent coating, the works in this series bring geometric concepts into stunning form.
Also on display are pieces inspired by scientific theories that attempt to describe the very form and movement of the universe, as well as photo-paintings based on drawings Mori made while viewing the ocean, which are informed by an sense of the invisible energy and the subatomic particles that surround us. Mori is an artist who is constantly pursuing new ideas, and this exhibition is an excellent opportunity to explore her current work.
