You’d be forgiven for not knowing that Japan has an Australian Rules Football league, and a competitive one at that.
However, the JAFL (Japan Australian Foot League) has been running in one capacity or another since 1987 in a effort to develop Australia’s national sport (and facilitate cultural exchange) here in Japan.
2015’s seven-team competition has been running since May and culminates this Saturday with a grand final showdown between the league’s top 2 teams, Tokyo Goannas and Tokyo Bay Suns.
Family and friends are all welcome. A sports bar at the ground will have light meals and drinks available and ‘Emmy’s Homemade Popsicle Company’ will be offering free fruity popsicles to spectators.
Match times are as follows:
Exhibition (warm-up) match: 3:40pm – 4:10pm
Grand final (Goannas VS Suns): 4:25pm – 5:45pm
Post-match presentation and drinks: 6:30pm onwards
