A comedy written 25 years ago by the late playwright Masayuki Imai, “Guardian Angels” (守ってあげたい）is a story that floats between the mortal and celestial world. Six guardian angels act as judges at the gates of heaven, deliberating the fate of each spirit based on their actions before dying.
The play stars Jay Kabira and Nanami Kameda (www.tokyoweekender.com/2016/06/an-unlikely-pair-waltz-their-way-to-a-connection-in-this-music-video) who worked together on Yoko Narahashi‘s film “Hold my Hand.” Up-and-coming actress Nanami appears as a young girl struggling to find the right path in life. Her father, who has recently passed away, is determined to become her guardian angel. Speaking to Weekender she said, “It’s a heartwarming story with singing and dancing that should be easy to follow even for people who don’t understand Japanese perfectly.”
Note: There will be different show times throughout the running of the play. Visit the event listing for more details.
