The Japan Association for Refugees (JAR) is hosting a charity walk/run this February in support of refugees living in Japan, as winter is a particularly tough time with the cold weather and isolation.
Who is considered a refugee you may ask? According to JAR, refugees are those who have fled to Japan from persecution, and are suffering again due to political issues, religion, nationality, or race here in Japan. JAR reaches nearly 2,000 of those refugees per year with its services.
JAR has set up a 5K walk, 5K run, or 10K run around the Imperial Palace with a prize contest for the best costume as well as a bib number raffle. More information on the race can be found on the official JAR website. Applications for the run can be made here.
How much: ¥3,000 for 5K; ¥4,000 for 10K
