When: 23/12/15: 5:00 pm
Where: United Nations University, 5-53-70 Jingumae
‘Tis the season for Christmas markets, illumination, romantic dinners…and night bike riding through Tokyo, dressed as Santa. That’s right: on the evening of the Emperor’s Birthday, expect to see a very odd “loud…and annoyingly Christmasey” group of riders biking through the Omotesando area. Rusty at riding? No problem. With room for all ages and all types of bikers alike, this is meant to be more of a social event than a serious bike ride.
The organizers are encouraging “flashy lights”, “sound system[s]”, and “lots of Christmas cheer,” but that will be left to your discretion. If you’ve got a more sardonic bone in your body, they’re welcoming Easter bunnies or an option for going nude too – in consideration for those Grinches and Scrooges out there. Gather at the Farmer’s Market at 5:00 pm, and expect to pedal off from 5:30 pm.
Don your Santa hat, grab a pair of wheels, turn up those holiday tunes, and onward, bikers and riders!
