A large scale exhibition exploring the evolution of the arts within the history of the tea ceremony. Dating back to the 12th century, art has always been intertwined in the tea ceremony from decorative tea rooms to the styles and crafts of utensils. Discover the Chinese karamono artworks and wabicha as you learn how the culture spread from monks to samurai and high society. Take a journey through the historic chapters which have culminated in the tea ceremony’s current position as a prominent and unique aspect of Japanese tradition.
