Still shivering in big coats on windy days (it’s even been snowing!), many Tokyoites can’t wait for the warm and cheerful days of spring — and of course, the marvelous cherry blossoms that fill the city.

Art production company NAKED is starting off this year’s cherry blossom season early by introducing the greatness of the sakura in its newest art exhibition, entitled Flowers by NAKED 2017. Last year, 20,000 social media users referred to the exhibition with the hashtag #flowersbynaked — the most ever for an art exhibition — and the company is sure to wow guests once again this year with a bigger and even more detailed sakura event.

Held at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall from February 2 to March 20, the event can be accessed directly from Mitsukoshimae Station. The event runs from 10am to 8pm, and guests are free to explore art and enjoy a couple of drinks in the surreal flowery atmosphere. Entrance fees are ¥1,400 for high school students and above and ¥900 for junior high and under.

A point of advice: those swinging by for unique drinks after work are in for a lucky surprise — guests are treated to good deals on signature drinks at happy hour from 6 to 8pm.

It’s no exaggeration to say cherry blossoms are one of the highlights of a year in Japan, and this exhibition dedicated to the gorgeous flowers might just be the event to get a head start on the season.
