Just last year, we interviewed the the three men who have collaboratively launched Two Rooms, Ruby Jack’s, and R2 Supperclub. Ghanaian Eddie Baffoe, Australian Matthew Crabbe and New Zealander Nathan Smith opened up about the secrets to their success, as well as the challenges they’ve faced in setting up restaurants and bars in Tokyo.

Still going strong, the trio recently relaunched R2 Supperclub with a heaving opening party held last week at the Roppongi hotspot. Calling it the “rebirth of Tokyo’s premier lounge dining bar,” the event showed off the popular nightspot’s facelift, which includes elevated booth seating stretching around the perimeter of the bar, and handcrafted speakers created by Kamome Sound Works. No doubt the lineup of local and international DJs will make full use of this brand-new, slick sound system.

The signature bar top, which extends out like an oversized square horseshoe into the middle of the main room, has been given a sophisticated brass touch. The drinks and meals served here are still top notch, but you can look forward to some exciting additions to the revised menu – be sure to try the Sizzling Garlic Prawns, Sizzling Wagyu Sirloin, and the Crabbe Cake Noisettes. Paired, naturally, with one of the many moreish cocktails created by Baffoe.
