Akasaka’s “live-cafe” Crawfish are following up their “Meet the Folkers” music night with this event dedicated to acoustic musicians. The night features four great acts: Kate Sikora and Kokaneemusic playing in full band mode, along with solo artists Martin Leroux and Ian Gronow, for a chilled-out summer evening of acoustic tunes.

Brush up on each of the acts before the show this weekend!

Kate Sikora:

Originally hailing from New Jersey, Kate has been spending years bouncing back and forth from the US to Japan spreading her upbeat indie-folk-pop tunes. Kate has a shopping list of achievements spanning over ten years in the biz, including records released independently and through Japanese labels andrecords and Contrarede, international producer collaborations, an appearance at 2009’s Fuji Rock Festival, and a New Jersey opening gig for her biggest musical influence, Liz Phair. Kate will be playing with a full band at Meet the Singer Songwriters, so expect an energetic and rocking set!

Check out the track “Circle in a Rectangle” below and find out more about their upcoming shows at their Facebook page.

Kokaneemusic:

This Tokyo-based brother-sister duo usually play with a standard acoustic configuration sharing guitar and vocal duties, but this weekend’s gig will see them expanding to a four piece. They will be recruiting drummer Sean McGee and bassist Katsuya Sakurai for the night which promises to create a very different vibe to their usual acoustic sound. Get familiar with their track “Impossibly Beautiful” below and stay up to date at their Facebook page.

Martin Leroux:

Martin is a French-Filipino singer songwriter from Tokyo who has been working the local circuit for a number of years. He’s got an EP under his belt, another on its way and plans for some international touring, so now is great time to catch this talented solo artist live and local.

Martin claims he often gets mistaken for Tracy Chapman—take a listen below and decide for yourself! Keep an eye on his Facebook page for more news.

Ian Gronow:

Ian is originally from the UK, but you can catch him playing his unique brand of pop music around Tokyo these days. With plans for an album release in 2016, Ian will be giving you a taste of what is to come with the live debut of some of his new material this weekend.
