The Tokyu Toyoko line as we knew it may be gone forever, but its platform remains, for now at least…
Re-baptized “Ekiato” since the Toyoko train took an underground route last March (making for an extra lengthy transfer…), the defunct station has been playing host to a few events, including a train museum and a UT pop-up shop from clothing giant Uniqlo.
The T-shirts may have sold out, but the venue still lives on for a few more days. Just when we thought it was closing time, Ekiato terminates its stint in style, holding its train station version of a beer garden. Visitors can sip on a variety of 30 different kinds of beer, ranging from craft breweries such as Shimbashi Dry Dock and Aobadai Keel’s Bar House, to more mainstream names such as Asahi and Hoegaarden.
The best part is, all glasses are priced ¥500, so if you find yourself a little bored this Golden Week, you know where to stop. Ekiato is officially closing down for good on May 6, so that’s your very last chance to stand on those Toyoko platforms.
