A passenger plane carrying 180 passengers and 9 crew was forced to turn back an hour into its flight after a “suspicious object” was found onboard. A soft drink can with the word “bomb” written on it alerted the crew, forcing the pilot to turn the airplane around.

The Air Mauritius A340 bound for Mauritius from Melbourne, touched down on an isolated part of the Melbourne Airport while emergency crews from the Australian Federal Police with 15 firetrucks were on standby. No previous threats were received in relation to the object. No one has been arrested while officials are continuously investigating on the incident. The explosives squad will also screen all baggages. Melbourne Airport’s operations remain normal.
