To some, Sting is the creme de la creme of the music industry. After starting in the late 1970s with The Police, the once-punky, now-jazzy UK crooner separated from the group (who had won six Grammys) to embark on a solo career in the late ‘80s. Over the years, Sting has collaborated with more stars than you could shake a stick at and performed on thousands of stages all over the world. In 2007, The Police and Sting reunited for the popular World Tour, playing to sold-out stadiums of fans, young and old alike. Sting will be in Tokyo this month to perform at the Budokan together with the Tokyo New City Orchestra, for the regrettably named “Symphonicity” tour on Jan 17 & 18; on the 19th, he’s on his own.
