Karma Yoga

yoga behind gompa

In an instant I recognised that the circular grassy area on the hill behind the Gompa had clear energy and one of the loveliest views of the Kathmandu valley. It softly whispered “Yoga” to me and I knew my self-practice would be enjoyed here.

Swami Sivananda long proclaimed that Karma Yoga (selfless service without expectation of reward) is one of the most powerful paths to liberation. With yoga so close to my heart it was therefore no surprise that I decided to organize daily yoga classes for fellow students in this enchanting spot.

Sitting cross-legged for long hours on the floor with no back support had many people feeling their hips and back like never before. I am grateful that the Monastery supported the sharing of yoga with this appreciative group in order to foster wellness: physically, mentally, spiritually and energetically. Despite our deliciously full bellies, our yoga in nature bestowed a powerful sense of grounding and peace as the mountains, sun and hawks looked on.

I also feel so blessed and grateful to the beautiful yogini’s that generously offered their time and energy to share their traditions of yoga and all the regulars that gave themselves the gift of this powerful practice.

Thank you Arianna, Teruyo, Verusca and Kayla, and of course our students.

Namaste,

Dani
