After several wonderful months on Canada’s west coast I have packed my bags to journey back to Asia.
I’m certainly going the long way back by routing through Toronto for a 5 day visit first.

Staying with friends in 3 different parts of “T-dot” I explored Danforth, Eglington and the university area of Bathurst. Kensington Market is a fun area with lots of ethnic shops, eateries, produce shops and a cool little vegetarian/macrobiotic café called Hibiscus.

I went to an obscure Thai film that won the coveted Palme d’Or for best picture at the Cannes film festival this year, “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives”. Playing at the new  TIFF Bell Lightbox -built for the Toronto International Film Festival and omplete with a bistro, restaurant, giftshop, exhibition centre and 5 public theatres.

I have been to Toronto several times and have never been seduced by city, however this time the city felt different- or perhaps I’m different.

Dani
