Mito-no-Oshoro-nagashi (floating of sacred boats), associated with Bon Festival, at Mitohama Beach, Miura, Kanagawa, is held from around 6 a.m. People from three towns gather at the beach and build each Oshoro-bune (straw-made sacred boats), each 5 meters long. Townspeople bring miniature Oshoro-sama (saints made of paper and straw) to the boats, and then tow out three boats to the sea around 8 a.m. Access: The Keihin Kyuko Line to Misakiguchi Station, and then walk 20 min.
