Shunju Tameike- Sanno

by The Miele Guide, the authoritative guide to Asia’s finest restaurants.

From the 27th floor of Sanno Park Tower, Shunju (which most appropriately means ‘spring and autumn’) provides stunning views over the city and appetizing modern Japanese cuisine in a dimly lit, minimalist setting with a beautifully proportioned open kitchen. Designed and owned by the renowned Takashi Sugimoto—he of the legendary Super Potato firm this restaurant gives the best seasonal produce and traditional ingredients a modern twist. The organic vegetables with beef carpaccio plays on the Japanese fondness for excessively rare meat and the kunsei shinyasai (seasonal vegetables) smoked over cherry chips is a creatively flavourful offering. With a regularly changing menu, you’ll never get bored.
